Jem takes scout to the halloween play because Atticus is tired and so isnt Aunt Alexandra and Scout isnt old enough to be walking home alone in the dark.
Arthur(Boo) Radley carried Jem home Because he cares for the children and Jem was knocked unconcious and Bob Ewell was trying to "kill" Jem and Boo Radley saved Jem and Scout.
I think you are right, Jacky, that "Boo" Radley carried Jem home. Boo Radley obviously cared about Scout and Jem. That is why he left presents in the oak tree for them. Boo is very shy, but I think he is also lonely. He was happy to have Scout and Jem as friends. For this reason he left the security of his house to fight Bob Ewell in their defense.
Jacky,
I think that both of your comments are accurate. Jem takes Scout to the Halloween play because everyone else is tired. I think that it was kind of him to take Scout knowing that she is not old enough to go alone. I also agree that Boo carried Jem home because he cares about him. As Rodney mentioned, there are 'hints' throughout the book leading us to the explanation that Boo does care about the children. He shows this through his actions.

Hello! Everyone had really great comments. I really felt badly for Scout at first when Atticus and Aunt Alexandra wasn't going to go to the play. I was really thankful when Jem agreed to take her. Mr. Radley really did take care of Jem and Scout that night. Had he not been around to come to their rescue, the situation could have turned out a lot worse.
