There are some reasons why Tom Robinson might have tried to break out of prison. One theory I have is that he felt he would never get out, and he missed his family. Also he could have had felt that if he stayed in prison he would be killed. He had no use of his left hand and it would be hard for him in prison. But what I think is that he didn't try to escape at all and guards just wanted to kill him. This thought is very disturbing because Tom was a good man and did not do anything.

Chapter 21

Atticus allowed jem, scout, and dill to come back to the trail after. He did so because he thought if they saw as much of the trail to the recess then it wouldn't make sense to send them home. If they saw that much of the trail, then it should be fine for them to see the resting of the trail to the jury's verdict is given.

chapter 25 :

Tom Robinson tried to break out of prison because he wanted to be at home enjoying life with his children and wife. Tom couldn't wait to get to another trial because he missed his family so much, even though he could have gotten another trial with an appeal from Atticus. The fact that the prison guards shot Tom 17 times is revolting, Tom could have been stopped from escaping without killing him, especially with that amount of bullets. When Mr. Underwood was writing an editorial or The Montgomery Advertiser he said that Tom was of no harm to anybody, and that killing a "songbird" was not right, because of one white girl who accused him of taking advantage of her.

in this chapter the trial takes place. the kinds want to go. a. fench does not want them to come back after dinner. they kids beg him. he says that if they go home and eat dinner they can come back. i think that he does this for more than one reason. one reason is that maby he thinks that it would be good for them to see what goes on when people break the law. the other reason is that if they have all ready seen most of it then they might as well see the rest.

Great thoughts! I agree with each of you.....Tom probably had many fears while being in jail. He probably feared that he would be killed and he probably missed his family very much. Atticus did allow Jem, Scout, and Dill to come back because he thought they already saw enough. Miss Maudie fed them cake because she wanted them to know that life would go on as usual.
