Chapter 18 –

Atticus finds it hard to believe that Tom Robinson beat Mayela Ewell the way she described it, due to a crippled arm. Mayela claims that Tom beat her, forming a bruise on the right side of her face, however, he was not capable of this because his left arm is deformed. Chapter eighteen proves that Mayela Ewell is lying, because Tom is incapable of participating in such an action.

Ch. 20

Mr. Raymond only has coca-cola because he is giving people a reason for why he hangs out with the Negros more than the White people. This is because most people want him to have a reason other than the fact that he likes them better.

chapter 16 :

The courthouse was segrigated. It was seperated with the African americans on the upper floor, and the white people on the lower ground level floor. African Americans were on the top floor because the white people were racist against them and dislike them very much. The black people were not considered of any use. Atticus had nothing against black people and truly believed that Tom Robinson was innocent and would do everything in his power to prove he was innoent.

Everyone had really great responses! The Courthouse was segregated. The African Americans had to sit in the balcony whereas the Caucasian Americans got to sit in the seating located on the first floor.

Atticus did believe that Tom Robinson was not guilty because he knew that Tom’s arm was mangled. There was no way for Tom to attack Mayella the way that she described with his arm the way that it was.

Mr. Raymond decided to act the way he did with adults because he figured it would be easier for them to dislike him for his bad behavior. He decided that he would give everyone a reason to dislike him.

Mr. Raymond leads the people of Maycomb to think that he is a bad person to give them a reason for what he is doing. Mr. Raymond hangs around "colored" people beacuse he likes them better thatn the people of Maycomb. However if he just gave the people no reason for what he was doing they wouldn't understand why he is doing what he is doing. If Mr. Raymond pretends to be drunk all the time people will just think that is why he is doing what is doing, he is just under the influence.

The court room was segregated by having the Whites sit on the lower floors in the seats and the Blacks sat on the upper seats in the balcony.
