What a great story so far! Hope everyone is enjoying it.. I have some questions for Chapters 11-15 for you to try:
Chap. 11- How do you feel about Jem's "punishment" for ruining Mrs. Dubose's camellias? What do you think he learned?
Chap. 12- How does Scout feel at Calpurnia's church?
Chap. 13- Near the end of the chapter, Scout comments, "I can't remember everything Finches are supposed to do..." What response does Atticus give? Why?
Chap. 14- What impression do you get of Dill's life, away from Maycomb?
Chap. 15- Explain Mr. Cunningham's reaction to Scout during the "mob" scene.

Chapter 13

Atticus's response to what Jem said at the end of the chapter was not very happy. Atticus was mad a t Jem for saying that and tried to be mean to Jem.

i feel like that was a fitting punishment for jem and that in helping her he got to know why she was so mean she was addicted to drugs and was trying to quit. after she died jem looked up to her as a hero.

Chapter 11:
I think that the punishment given to Jem in chapter eleven was a reasonable punishment. Even though he was getting really crucial name-calling from Mrs. Dubose, he was told tons of times to not blow his head off. after his punishment of reading and gardening, I think he learned that there is two types of being brave, there is physically brave and there is mentally brave.

Chapter 14:
Dill makes his life seem really good in the beggining of the story, but towards the middle it dosen't seem so great. From the reading in the story it does not seem like he has a real father, but he does have a mother. The impression I have of Dill's life is that he does not have a real family and that he is always in need of a good home.

Thanks for all ur comments.. Sam, I like your thoughts on Dill and his home life... it's never really stated in the book, so I can tell you gave it some thought. I agree, it seems that Dill is always in need of a place to call home. I agree with everyone that Jem learned a valuable life lesson from his experience with Mrs. Dubose. Look for some more questions for the next chapters... coming soon!!
