Chapter 18- Tom Robinson couldn’t have beat and choked Mayella because of his handicap. Not only can he not beat her and choke her at the same time, but he could not have beaten her on the right side of her face. It would have been impossible, even with his strength.
Chapter 18
I think that Tom could not have abused Mayella because she stated that her left side of her face was beat up. I cannot see how this was accomplished because his left hand was crippled. If he did hit Mayella with his right hand, the right side of her face would be bruised. However, the left side of her face was injured. Mayella also claimed that he choked her while beating her, which is impossible because Tom could only use one arm. Making Mayella's story a lie.
Right on!! The author never comes right out and says that it's impossible for Tom to have done this, but instead lets the readers make that deduction for themselves. We know, as do the jurors, that the evidence supports the fact that Tom Robinson could not have committed this crime.
Because of Tom's injury, one of his arms was shorter than the other. It would be very hard to choke someone and abuse them. Very good answers.
NO, Tom couldn't have done physical damage becuase of his hadicap. In order to really beat down on sum one you have to really have a firm grip becaus ethey will figh back
